================================================================== INTRODUCTION ================================================================== Welcome to the WINDII Archive Volume. The WINDII instrument measured the Earth's airglow, using limb viewing geometry, in the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere (80 to 300 km). Three geophysical quantities, 1) emission rate, 2) wind and 3) temperature were derived from these observations. Measurements were made both day and night providing 72 degrees S to 72 degrees N latitude coverage in this region of the atmosphere. Documents available in the archive are divided in two groups. The first group includes documents describing the entire data set as well as details about the nomenclature used (such as descriptions of filter groups). The second group of documents contains information specific to the computer or data system environments used to process the original WINDII data and subsequently the reprocessed WINDII data.
