NOTES:
* this archive was downloaded from the NORSTAR riometer archive 
at aurora.phys.ucalgary.ca

* this archive contains data from NORSTAR archive, as it was on 2007-10-05.
In particular:

  ** data for period from 2006-09-01 to 2007-05-28 
have been downloaded from the NORSTAR archive on 2007-10-05.
These data have been loaded to the database on 2007-10-05. 
These data have been made available on the NORSTAR archive 
between 2007-03-21 and 2007-10-05 (it seems in June 2007)

  ** data for year 1989 
have been downloaded from the NORSTAR archive on 2007-05-14.
These data have been loaded to the cssdp database on 2007-05-16.
These data have been made available on the NORSTAR archive on May 3 2007.

  ** data for the period from 1990-01 to 2006-08-28 
have ben downloaded from the NORSTAR archive on on 2007-01-24
(that was the entire archive at this time). 
(and later checked to be identical to the data on that archive on 2007-03-21). 
The loading of these data was finished on 2007-03-27


 



* directory old_canopus_riometer_format stores partial
archive of riometer canopus data in the CANOPUS format.
It is not used currently - instead the entire archive of the riometer canopus/norstar
data is now in the new NORSTAR format.




* directory duplicated_not_used stores data files that were present
in the NORSTAR archive at aurora.phys.ucalgary.ca 
but have not been put to the cssdp database, because other file for given
day and site was put to the database.

That is because, as agreed with NORSTAR, in the cssdp database there is
one file per day and site, while in the NORSTAR archive 
sometimes there are more than one file per day/site (i.e. from
different "streams" or "versions") e.g.

chu_canopus_dcp_rio_20050101_v0.txt
chu_rio_20050101_v1a.txt

chu_canopus_dcp_rio_20051025_v0.txt
chu_norstar_rio_20051025_v0.txt

As agreed with NORSTAR, on the CSSDP we put only one file per day/site
to the database, selected according to the following priority:

sss_norstar_rio_yyyymmdd_v1a.txt
sss_canopus_dcp_rio_yyyymmdd_v1a.txt
sss_rio_yyyymmdd_v1a.txt
sss_norstar_rio_yyyymmdd_v0.txt
sss_canopus_dcp_rio_yyyymmdd_v0.txt
sss_rio_yyyymmdd_v0.txt

(I did not actually find all of these types in the archive so far, but
this is the rule in case they all exist.)
